This celebrated S.F. bakery is one of five retailers to the Giants' Mission Rock
Arsicault Bakery, the Inner Richmond phenomenon that has attracted lines down the block since 2016 when Bon Appetit named it best new bakery in America, plans to open up its third outlet at Mission Rock, the development under construction across from Oracle Park.
The bakery is one of five retailers that have committed to space at Mission Rock, according the San Francisco Giants and Tishman Speyer, the project's co-developers.
The other tenants that have signed leases are Blades Co. Barbershop, Ike's Love & Sandwiches, the gym LuxFit, and Proper Foods, which offers "grab and go" sandwiches, salads and soups.
Mission Rock, a 28-acre neighborhood being developed across the Lefty O'Doul Bridge from the ballpark, is being built on surface parking. It will eventually have 1,200 apartments, eight acres of parks and 1.7 million square feet of commercial space.
Arsicault will be located in "Building F," the Studio Gang-designed tower that will be Mission Bay's second residential tower when it opens next year. Blades Barbershop, LuxFit and Ike's will be on the ground floor of "Building B," a life science research structure, while Proper Foods will occupy a storefront in the Visa headquarters, which has been completed.
Tishman Speyer managing director Maggid Kadin said the "first set of eateries and shops -- and the ones that follow -- will serve as a celebration of San Francisco's diverse and innovation community of local business owners,"
The leasing activity at Mission Rock stands in contrast to the shuttering of major retailers like Nordstroms, Old Navy, Saks Off Fifth, Office Depot, Whole Foods and Anthropologie.
The five retailers will occupy a combined 11,000 square feet of space in the first phase of Mission Rock, which includes two apartment towers, a life science building and the Visa headquarters. It will also include a full-service restaurant, which has not been identified. All are scheduled to open by the middle of next year.
"From the beginning, our goal was for Mission Rock to become San Francisco's next great neighborhood and one that reflects the values and distinct character of the Bay Area," said Giants President and CEO Larry Baer in a statement. "Our retail partners represent the best of the Bay Area and we couldn't be more excited to welcome them to the district."
In June, the Giants and Tishman Speyer held a grand opening for the Canyon, a 23-story tower with 282 units, 102 of which are being leased at below market rents. Building F, which as 254 apartments, is also under construction and will open next year.
