The Cortland reflects the synergy of the firm’s two unique styles, and their shared dedication to craftsmanship, natural materials and deep understanding about how people want to live; Robert A.M. Stern Architects is an internationally renowned New York-based architecture practice known for their modern classicism, and Seattle-based Olson Kundig is celebrated for their modern and innovative minimalism.
Inspired by West Chelsea’s rich industrial heritage and the neighborhood’s historic architecture, The Cortland’s intricate façade features a mix of limestone, brick and metal detailing and uses over one million hand-made and hand-laid bricks giving the project a distinctly historical feel.
For their first residential project in New York City, Olson Kundig brings a refined west coast aesthetic to The Cortland’s interiors emphasizing craft and function. Using the highest quality natural materials throughout, Olson Kundig’s interiors are sophisticated, elegant and comfortable.
The Cortland features studio- to five-bedroom residences, and an assortment of expansive penthouses.
