The San Francisco Giants' Mission Rock mixed-use development’s first retail tenants will include local establishments Arsicault Bakery and Ike's Love & Sandwiches, alongside a gym and a barbershop, the project announced Thursday.
These retailers will take up about 11,000 square feet in the first phase of Mission Rock starting early 2024, and more retailers, including a flagship restaurant, are expected to join. The $1.5 billion first phase of the project is set for completion by mid-2024.
A collaboration between San Francisco Giants, New York-based developer Tishman Speyer and the Port of San Francisco, the project aims to revamp what was formerly a parking lot next to Oracle Park on the Port of San Francisco property into a vibrant new neighborhood with residential units, parks, retail spaces, work areas, and parking for ballpark attendees.
“From the beginning, our goal was for Mission Rock to become San Francisco’s next great neighborhood and one that reflects the values and distinct character of the Bay Area,” said Giants President and CEO Larry Baer in the press release. “Our retail partners represent the best of the Bay Area and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to the district.”
The full list of retailers announced Thursday are:
- Arsicault Bakery, known for its croissants and baked goods, will be
located in building F, the project’s second residential tower. - Blades Co. Barbershop, which offers upscale men's haircuts and spa
services, will be located in building B, a commercial building designed
for life-sciences research and development. - Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, the beloved San Francisco-born eatery
known for its frequently sports-themed sandwich combinations, will be
located in building B. - LuxFit, an outdoor gym, will also be in building B.
- Proper Food, a health conscious grab-and-go chain, will be located in
the building home to Visa’s new headquarters.
The building slated to house Visa's global and North American headquarters is
finished, and in June, the project's first residential building, a 23-story tower
with 283 apartments, including 102 below-market-rate units, welcomed its
first occupants.
Work is progressing on a life sciences-focused commercial building, a second
residential tower with 254 apartments and China Basin Park, a five-acre
community space.
The final project will encompass 1,200 housing units, 1.7 million square feet of
offices and nearly 200,000 square feet of retail and dining along with eight
acres of open space.
