The Golden State Warriors have inked a deal for 71,000 square feet of offices in San Francisco’s Mission Rock.
The NBA team signed a lease in Building B at 1051 3rd Street, less than a mile from where the team plays at Chase Center, the San Francisco Business Times reported, citing an unidentified source.
Terms of the lease for two floors of the 295,000-square-foot building developed by New York-based Tishman Speyer as part of the 28-acre waterfront neighborhood were not disclosed.
Allen Palmer and Patrick Devinger of Tishman Speyer handled the lease, but couldn’t be reached for comment by the newspaper.
The Mission Rock development, built in partnership with the San Francisco Giants baseball team and the Port of San Francisco, replaces former parking lots across McCovey Cove from Oracle Park.
The Warriors are the first office tenant in Building B, constructed last year. It sits diagonally across from Visa’s global headquarters at Mission Rock.
Giants CEO Larry Baer told the Business Times this spring Building B was likely to come available for lease in the third quarter ending last month, and that there had been interest from a range of businesses.
The white building, completed in the first phase of Mission Rock, has banks of large square windows, 32 outdoor terraces and a rooftop deck, with expansive views of the Bay.
There’s also a 25,000-square-foot fitness center, where the NBA executives can stay fit as Warriors.
The Warriors were among the prospective tenants that showed interest in DivcoWest’s 550 Terry A. Francois Boulevard early this year, according to the Business Times. Last month, the property was fully leased to OpenAI.
When fully developed, Mission Rock will contain 2.7 million square feet of lab-ready offices, homes, shops and restaurants, according to its website. It will also contain 8 acres of parks, plus a plaza.
